Google Panda is a new update of Google against the low quality content sites. It got a lot of versions and many sites got effected by it. Those sites got effected by it either penalized and place in sandbox or got a lot low ranking. This update is very helpful to users because after it they met with real and informative content instead of bad or irrelevant content.
